I am just another earnest professor, living in the vast cornfields of the midwest landscape, just trying to live “la vida loca.” This page explores the intersections among life, social justice and documentary represention. There will also be some nonsense, nuggets of insight I will send out into the world, that will have no relationship to the aformentioned intersections. In addition to having a varacious appetite for documentary film and video, I also enjoy creating such works. In my spare time, I like to garden, see live music, read US magazine, make jewlery, watch odd arthouse films, travel, compose mix cds, participate in grassroots political organizing, and hang out with my partner Dan.

Hey baby! I saw that you blogrolled me and traced you to your home. Lovely site you have here. I enjoy the analysis of nature documentaries–remember Collette Guillaumin’s analysis of the ways they naturalize people-as-animals? Miss you.

I am so glad you found the blog! I completely forgot about Collette Guillaumin’s analysis …I am going to pick that up again. Its moments like these that I appreciate the great base of research I can draw from given the substantial reading assignments in graduate school (and you can tell your current students that, if they complain). I miss you terribly and I hope you are well. My hope is that these blogs will help us keep in touch better and give us an opportunity to exchange ideas!
